AR Modular RF Completing Work On
Ultrasound System For Non-Invasive Surgery

Bothell, WA – 10/25/05 – Several months ago AR Modular RF was asked to customize one of its amplifiers for use in an ultrasound system. The Ultrasound equipment, which is used as a non-invasive surgical alternative in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, had been using an amplifier that was having field failure issues.

Asked to provide a more reliable amplifier, AR Modular RF was able to customize an existing unit, model KMA2040 (200 watts CW. 0.5 - 40 MHz). The system monitoring and interfaces all had to be adapted to fit the existing package ultrasound equipment, both electronically and physically. Because the ultrasound system is sold worldwide, a power unit had to be incorporated that could handle line voltage variations and meet CE, UL and medical approvals around the globe.

Within the customized case made to fit the existing instrument, AR Modular RF designed and fitted a custom ALC, gain control, and VSWR monitor circuit board, a custom heat sink and fan system, along with the AC power supply unit.

The last medical approvals are expected before the end of the year; and the final production version will soon go into production.
