What
is RSS?
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication.
It is a means of distributing frequently
updated content. This can include news,
web pages, blogs, podcasts or any other
kind of content that is delivered on
the web.
To use RSS you need an "RSS reader" or "news
aggregator." This functionality is
built into many recent web browsers
and email clients. Other popular readers
are the Google
Reader, Omea
Reader, Feed
Demon and Shrook (Mac).
With an RSS reader or aggregator you
can view content from various providers
in one place. When a publisher adds
new content to it's RSS feed, your
RSS client will automatically retrieve
it. Google describes their reader as
an "inbox for the web."
