Located in the Seattle/Bothell area, AR Modular RF (ARM), has an exciting opportunity for a select candidate, with a strong background in RF, to join our team serving as an RF Test Technician in testing, troubleshooting, and building both medium and high-powered RF amplifiers between the frequencies of 100KHz to 6 GHz.  Join a leader in the design and manufacture of radio amplifiers that serve custom high-niche, low-volume markets including military, government, industrial, medical, and scientific. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support Engineering with verification testing of current amplifier designs, and the development of future amplifier designs, and provide feedback
  • Perform the following:
    • testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on current and future development of RF amplifiers
    • troubleshooting down to component level
    • basic wire and power supply checking
    • pretests and programing on subassemblies as required
    • tuning of various RF filters using test equipment
    • final testing to ensure units conform to specification
  • Maintain appropriate test documentation
  • Work with a team of test technicians to support each other in both current and legacy designs

Basic Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • 3+ years experience
  • RF experience strongly preferred
  • Understand VSWR, power measurements including PEP
  • Understand ON/OFF time and ON/OFF ratio.
  • Conversant regarding dBM and Watts measurements
  • Basic computer and MS Office skills
  • Ability to use RF laboratory equipment to include DC power supplies, signal generators, network analyzers, power measurement devices, signal analyzers, pulse generators, and digital oscilloscopes

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop embedded system solutions for new products
  • Implement the embedded design between RF/analog and digital/embedded systems, creating firmware and software for embedded digital platforms that monitor and control RF amplifier systems
  • Assist in the design of software/firmware subsystems by selecting components, performing simulations, schematic capture, design reviews, overseeing PCB layout, and defining test requirements
  • Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate components and subsystems and verify design performance
  • Develop technical reports and documentation for specific task outcomes and assist in data-driven decisions

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with multiple processor, microcontroller, and FPGA platforms
  • Knowledge of change order process, reviews, and execution
  • Embedded C/C++ applications (bare metal and embedded OS)
  • FPGA development (VHDL or similar)
  • Microcontroller PIC/Assembly
  • Digital Circuit Design, including ADC and DAC
  • Common embedded protocols; I2C, SPI, UART
  • Strong written & verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite of products

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:  Experience in physical layer RF and communication systems

  • Proven ability in analyzing root cause, complex design debugging, and independent problem solving with minimal guidance
  • Experience with graphical user interfaces (GUI screens/buttons)
  • Familiarity with: Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS or similar, Microsemi Libero SoC Design Suite, Python, PADS schematic and PCB or similar, Git and revision control, LabVIEW, LVGL
