NSWC Use of AR-50 Booster Amplifiers
Bothell, WA — February 2, 2012 — After many months of analysis and testing the Navy Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) has chosen AR Modular RF's AR-50 tactical communications amplifier for use in a major vehicle mounted program along with the Harris PRC-117G radios. The "Battle Tested" AR-50 which was previously JITC certified for the Raytheon PSC-5D radio has recently been re-certified for use with the Harris PRC- 117G. NSWC purchased all of the amplifiers through the General Services Administration Website (GSA Contract #GS-07F-0371U).
The AR-50 booster amplifier boosts tactical radio signals from handheld and back-pack multi-band VHF/UHF tactical radio equipment employing legacy, proprietary and emerging JTRS waveforms such as AM, FM, PM, SINCGARS, HAVEQUICK, HPW, DAMA, IW, and ANW2. It provides 50 watts of output with as little as 3 watts input and offers two antenna ports dedicated to line-of-sight (LOS) or UHF Satellite (SATCOM). The system also provides a switchable SatCom low-noise amplifier (LNA) and a multi-position RF output level control. The small, compact, lightweight unit can run from either battery power or 12v or 24v vehicle power systems.
